Description
The Greenhouse Maintenance & Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance on greenhouse equipment, systems, and vehicles. This dual‑role position ensures the operational efficiency of the greenhouse facility, including irrigation, heating, cooling, electrical and mechanical systems, as well as the safe, reliable functioning of company fleet vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities Greenhouse Maintenance
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair greenhouse systems including irrigation and fertigation systems, shade cloth and curtain system, HVAC units, heaters, and ventilation fans.
Electrical systems and lighting, and plumbing and water supply infrastructure.
Perform preventative maintenance on greenhouse structures and equipment.
Maintain climate control systems and assist with calibration of environmental sensors and timers.
Fleet Maintenance
Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on company fleet vehicles, including box trucks, farm trucks, forklifts, trailers, golf carts, tractors, and small engines.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
Track vehicle & equipment maintenance schedules and logs.
Ensure all vehicles meet safety and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with vendors or service centers for specialized repairs.
General Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Order and manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
Assist with other facility repair needs as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in agriculture, greenhouse, or fleet environments.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, and electrical systems, diesel and gas engine repair, and preventive maintenance procedures.
Basic welding, fabrication, and carpentry skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment
Work performed indoors and outdoors, including hot and humid greenhouse environments.
May require lifting up to 75 lbs., bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working with power tools.
Exposure to moving machinery, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
