We are looking for the right Maintenance Repair Mechanic Technician to join our team and manage our fleet of heavy‑duty trucks.

Compensation

Hourly Pay: $31.00 per hour, based on experience

Ability to earn additional monthly performance incentive

Flexible 40‑hour work week (weekend premiums apply)

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or Technical Certification Post‑Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred

Basic tools required

Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems), and advanced repairs (major engine, diesel after‑treatment, fuel injection)

Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred

Non‑Commercial Driver License CLASS E, preferred

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

Other State driver's license, as required

Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment

Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles and secure the assigned mobile service truck

Pass the Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check

Positive background and motor‑vehicle verification for the last 3 years

Ability to understand and adhere to company policies, complete repair orders, create professional relationships, work independently and as part of a team, prioritize workload, and demonstrate strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills

Knowledge of various certifications and training within 90–180 days (e.g., PM230, BA220, F/M… etc.) and certification courses as required by fleet mix

Responsibilities

Interact with customers to manage preventive maintenance, resolve repair issues, and discuss estimates

Coordinate work schedule as required by customers; road test vehicles to diagnose complaints and ensure quality of repair work

Perform preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs, including:

A/C & Heater – system checks, Freon and oil leak detection

Brakes‑Air – air brake system inspection, leaks, lining thickness, and repairs per BA298

Brakes‑Hydraulic – less extensive inspections, adjustments, and repairs per BH298

Cargo Hand‑ling / Liftgates – leak identification and minor adjustments

Charging Systems – battery, belt, alternator inspections and replacements

Clutch – lubrication, operation checks

Cooling Systems – coolant level, leak inspection, hose replacements, pressure testing

Cranking System – battery and starter inspections, battery replacement

Lighting System – wiring, bulb and assembly repairs, accessory installations

Drive Axles – oil and filter changes, housing inspections

Driveline – lubrication and wear inspections

Fuel Systems – filter replacement, diesel/gas system integrity checks

Preventive Maintenance – lube techniques, tire inspections, battery and under‑vehicle checks, fault code identification, comprehensive PM298 activities

Steering & Alignment – grease fittings, fluid checks, toe adjustments, wheel bearing replacements

Suspension‑Chassis/Cab – model identification, leak repairs, brand‑specific troubleshooting

Tire and Wheel Maintenance – bias pressures, tread depth checks, mounting/dismounting, rotation per TW298

Vehicle Coupling – fifth‑wheel lubrication and slider operation

Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation to meet safety, DOT, and corporate compliance

Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain proper service, safety, and environmental records per corporate, federal, state, and local mandates

Accountable for maintenance metrics related to PMs, brakes, tires, and wheel safety

Mentor SM II level technicians
