Overview The employee in this position will cut structural steel to required lengths and angles, cut materials with a hand torch, kit materials, manage warehouse and transport kits, and support overall production activities.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourage safe behavior and proactively address unsafe conditions.

Attend, participate in, and conduct pre‑shift and weekly safety meetings.

Comply with all Chart policies and procedures including Attendance, Code of Conduct, PPE/Dress Code, Teamwork, and other company policies.

Maintain punctuality and reliable attendance.

Follow directions and instructions accurately.

Clock in and out using Time and Attendance systems, jobs, etc.

Read and interpret blueprints.

Resolve job‑related issues such as print and material discrepancies.

Maintain accurate raw material counts.

Provide production and procedural guidance for Saw Operators.

Roll, close jobs, or complete operations in Syteline.

Analyze prints or instructions for discrepancies.

Cross‑train in other areas or departments as needed.

Demonstrate knowledge of Chart Quality Systems, including travelers, work instructions, and in‑process inspection checklists.

Act in a considerate, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner toward colleagues, customers, vendors, and visitors.

Physical Requirements Exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, up to 30 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly. Requires balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motion.

Visual Acuity Requirements Ability to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work, and to inspect work, is required.

Conditions Indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, extreme heat (above 100°F for over an hour), noise requiring shouting, vibration, proximity to moving machinery or vehicles, electrical current or chemical exposure, and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, or poor ventilation. Ability to work in narrow aisles or passageways may be required.

Education High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience / Skills

Prior manufacturing experience.

Pass entry and other welding tests preferred.

Proficiency with scale, square, protractor, dividers, straight edge, plumb line, tape measure, and various common hand tools.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Ability to perform angle calculations and coping operations.
