Job Overview The Roofer - Shingles is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining shingle roofing systems while adhering to all safety protocols and industry standards. This role includes preparing the roof, removing existing materials, installing underlayment and shingles, and ensuring work meets quality, safety, and project specifications. Roofers will work collaboratively, assist in training new team members, and maintain a clean and safe job site.
Key Responsibilities
Set up ladders, scaffolding, and fall protection equipment according to OSHA guidelines.
Inspect roofs for existing damage and safety hazards before starting work.
Load roofing materials and equipment onto roofs using cranes, forklifts, or hand hoists.
Remove or recover existing roofing material and transport debris to roll-offs or trailers.
Inspect and repair roof decking, insulation, and underlayment as needed.
Install underlayment and shingles according to specifications, ensuring proper nailing patterns and hip/ridge hand nailing.
Install pipe jacks and other roof penetrations as required.
Clean up job site daily and maintain materials and tools safely and organized.
Train new roofers and assist with skill development.
Follow all safety procedures, wear fall protection, and comply with OSHA regulations.
Requirements
Prior experience in shingle roofing installation preferred.
Knowledge of roofing safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding tasks.
Ability to train new roofers and communicate effectively.
Valid driver's license preferred.
