Pattern Maker (Metal) – 1st Shift Location: Syracuse, NY Schedule: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Industry: Manufacturing & Production Job Type: Full-time | Onsite
About the Role We are seeking an experienced
Pattern Maker (Metal)
to join our team. In this role, you will plan, layout, and perform complex hand-finishing operations on rough castings to be used as patterns, core boxes, and permanent molds. You will also fabricate new patterns and molds, utilize CNC machinery, and apply advanced pattern-making techniques to meet production needs.
What You’ll Do
Plan, layout, and execute complex finishing operations on castings, patterns, core boxes, and molds.
Fabricate and assemble build-ups, plates, cope and drag plates, and other components using various materials.
Perform advanced layout work to establish relationships between dimensions, including interim dimensions not provided on prints.
Setup and operate conventional and CNC machine tools, improvising tooling and setups as needed.
Program CNC machining software (SolidWorks, MasterCam) for pattern-making requirements.
Apply hand-finishing techniques including fitting, polishing, scraping, and precision adjustments.
Ensure work meets required tolerances, create templates, and account for draft, shrinkage, and finish allowances.
Identify and escape errors in prints or unusual conditions.
Perform
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
activities including inspection, lubrication, and minor repairs.
Qualifications ✅
Required:
Minimum
4+ years of metal pattern-making experience
OR Journeyman license.
High school diploma or GED (accredited institution).
Experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC machinery.
Proficiency in
SolidWorks
and
MasterCam
software.

Preferred:
Strong knowledge of pattern-making techniques, ability to develop new processes when required.
Hands‑on experience with intricate hand and bench operations.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
