Position Details This role focuses on operating and maintaining a Sheetfed offset press on a 12‑hour weekend shift (Friday‑Sunday 5 am–5 pm), with voluntary overtime during the week. Training is provided on one of the core shifts (First Shift or Second Shift) before placement on the weekend shift.
Salary & Shift Hourly rate:
$25 – $35.00
(dependent on knowledge, skill, experience, and market conditions). Overtime over 40 hours per week will be paid.
Responsibilities
Prepare for operation – access job ticket, set up the offset press with correct substrate, ink, and plate specifications, and ensure supplies are stocked.
Operate sheetfed press within company safety standards to produce printed products that meet customer specifications.
Perform quality checks – complete quality checklists and visual inspections throughout printing to ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain equipment – observe machine operations, perform basic maintenance, troubleshoot during shift, and keep a maintenance issue list.
Clear line – clean the assigned area, removing finished products, trash, boxes, and supplies.
Ensure proper ink and water balance and maintain constant ink densities per customer specifications.
Direct crew during scheduled maintenance and attend all operators’ meetings.
Work efficiently when the press is down, cooperate with supervisors, and continually learn new processes to increase production.
Train and develop other pressroom personnel and assist supervisors with documentation and process improvement.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of lead sheetfed operator experience; packaging/printing field preferred.
Experience with Heidelberg XL 106 6‑color or K&B Rapida 106 7‑color desirable; other makes considered.
Understanding of color and ability to pass a color test.
Strong mechanical skills and aptitude.
Physical ability: lift 10–15 lbs steadily, lift to 50 lbs occasionally, stand long hours on a 12‑hour shift, use hands and wrists continuously, and follow instructions.
Availability for 12‑hour shifts, overtime, and holidays as required (OT paid over 40 hours per week).
Preferred Qualifications
Machine repair and maintenance experience preferable.
Additional Information & Benefits The actual rate of pay offered will vary based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package may include overtime and shift differentials, depending on the role.
