Impact Summary The CNC Machinist Technician IV is a highly skilled expert responsible for the precision manufacturing of advanced aerospace components supporting commercial and DoD customers. This role ensures the production of high‑quality, tight‑tolerance parts through advanced 3 & 5 axis CNC programming and machining techniques. The Machinist leads prototype development and high‑volume production runs, while mentoring junior machinists and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key role in maintaining MTech’s AS9100 certification and delivering innovative solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.
Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate 3 & 5 axis CNC machines using solid models and complex technical drawings.
Assist prototype development and manage short‑run and high‑volume production schedules.
Provide expert guidance on material hardness, cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and coolant requirements.
Interpret complex geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) specifications to ensure part accuracy.
Conduct in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges and various other measurement tools to ensure parts are within spec during the machining process.
Operate and maintain advanced machinery including CNC mills, lathes, shears, and shop equipment.
Mentor and train junior machinists, sharing best practices and advanced machining techniques.
Provide critical design feedback to engineers to support prototype and production improvements.
Assist production team with run times and capabilities for scheduling and estimating purposes.
Perform scheduled maintenance within reasonable capabilities.
Ensure accurate completion of manufacturing documentation and material control processes.
Champion compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Competencies
Advanced proficiency in 3 & 5 axis CNC programming, set‑up, and operation to produce precision aerospace components.
Expert knowledge of material properties, cutting tools, machining parameters, and coolant requirements.
Exceptional ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities within a manufacturing team.
Strong organizational skills with a focus on maintaining housekeeping standards (6S).
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and correct machining issues independently.
Self‑motivated with a commitment to dependability and fulfilling obligations.
Strong collaboration and professional communication skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 10 years of CNC programming and machining experience.
Experience with Siemens NX software preferred.
Experience with Okuma 3 & 5 machines and OSP‑300MA controls preferred.
Experience operating Grob 5 axis machines is a plus.
Experience with large 5 axis machining is a plus.
Experience with Horizontal mills is a plus.
Proficient in creating work‑holding solutions for large complex parts.
Background in general fabrication and assembly is a plus.
Must be a U.S. citizen due to DoD contract requirements.
Clean record with the ability to obtain a US security clearance.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Occasional travel may be required.

Salary Information The estimated salary range for this position will be $38.00 - $48.00 per hour, based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, skill set, and market conditions. Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
