Description
Assembles production components and units, such as desk and display centers, in preparation for packaging and shipment
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Assembles a variety of products; takes direction from leads, supervisors, and through written work instructions
Accurately interprets blueprints and assembly instructions
Positions production parts in specified relationship to each other
Uses various hand held and pneumatic tools including hammer, mallet, screwdriver, screw gun, hand drill, staple gun, torque wrench, etc. to secure/attach components (i.e. shelves, panels, doors, bases, etc.), and/or hardware (i.e. hinges, handles, etc.)
Applies glue to joints/edges of production parts, secures assembly in place by pressing parts together by hand or by using a securing device
Participates cooperatively in ATO job rotation by performing a variety of tasks on the line
Works at a bench or on line as a member of an assembly team, assembling several specific parts and passing unit to another worker for the next assembly task
Lift unit from one station to the next as well as stack/secure product to skid/card for transportation at various stages of completion
Loads/unloads parts from and operates previously set up machines, such as a drill press
Operates pallet jack to relocate finished components to inspection area
Performs quality checks throughout building process as well as product counts
Reworks faulty components when necessary
Records information such as quantities, work time, date and other job information on daily time document and routing sheets
Keeps work area free of clutter and debris
Other duties as assigned
Requirements Education/Experience Requirements
High school diploma or its equivalent
Six months to one year of related work experience
OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Communicate effectively and professionally with internal customers
Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions both verbally and written
Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to accurately comprehend and apply measuring device readings
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other production instructions accurately
Contact Responsibilities This position requires effective and respectful communication within a specific department or departments or team in order to relay and obtain information and complete specific tasks on a regular basis. Some of the information and communications required for this position are considered confidential. Ability to be professional and ethical in all company dealings required.
Work Environment On-site Only – These jobs must be performed on-site with accessibility to equipment, materials, support staff, and other resources required for the job. Working from home is not an option for these jobs.
Production – The work environment for this position is typical of that found in a discrete manufacturing workplace where a variety of products and components are produced, assembled, warehoused and shipped. Personal Protective Safety Equipment (PPE) and safety dress code is required. The workweek is typically 40 hours with overtime during seasonal peak demand.
