Position Purpose
To set up and operate metal fabrication machinery, such as CNC horizontal band saw, CNC vertical band saw, overhead crane, forklift, various sanders, hand and measuring tools, tube benders, and oxy‑acetylene torch.
Position Summary To set up and operate various metal fabrication machinery while referencing and interpreting technical blueprints to withhold tolerances laid out by engineering specifications as well as shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation in the work centers.
Essential Duties
Produce Parts by Operating Various Fabrication Machinery
Refer to the blueprints provided for parts to be produced
Handle material and product within the saw area
Work with leads, techs, supervisors to stage materials for daily production through the saw area
Cycle count materials
Use scanning equipment to track material moves in the system
Perform daily maintenance on saws up to and including changing saw blades, scrap and chip removal, filling of coolant and coolant storage tanks
Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from workpiece using a file, belt sander, hand grinder, or wire brush
Provide feedback and report issues regarding blueprints and quality of parts produced
Use inspection equipment for quality assurance such as a tape measure, square, and calipers
Maintain A Good Attendance Record
Follow the schedule provided by the supervisor
Communicate with supervisor regarding planned and unplanned time off
Work Hours Mon - Thursday 3 pm - 1 am
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements
Industry experience is necessary
Strong mechanical aptitude
Must have at least a certificate and/or equivalent work experience
Physical Demands
Remain in a standing position for most of the time
Be able to weld
Be able to wear a welding helmet
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Work in a production environment
Communicate clearly and effectively
Mental Demands
Work at a steady pace
Work independently
Use measuring tools and calibration requirements
Perform basic arithmetic
Read and interpret blueprints
