Job Description The Engineering Technician I will be responsible for assisting in the production of construction drawings. Typical responsibilities include drafting and 3‑D modeling of marked‑up plans, sections, details, and notes produced by senior project staff.
General Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of modeling and drafting on projects, or portions of projects, as directed by the design manager or project engineer. Projects may include single‑discipline or multi‑discipline building‑type structures for both new and existing construction.
Work with the engineer to resolve all instances of conflict in building elements and work of another discipline discovered during drafting and/or modeling.
Adhere to company and department standards for both CAD and BIM projects.
Communicate and coordinate with technicians and professionals from other disciplines during the development of models, plans, sections, and details.
Comply with quality control policies and procedures.
Project Responsibilities
Assist Engineers and Interns with tasks as assigned.
Draft marked‑up plans, partial plans, sections, details, and notes provided by the Engineer.
Complete sections and details produced to a schematic‑level of completion by the Engineer.
Develop an accurate, 3‑D model of the project with the required level of detail using the required BIM software package.
Coordinate with technicians and professionals from other disciplines within the design team.
Participate in multi‑discipline BIM coordination efforts.
Adhere to task budget and schedule.
Required Skills
Effective and professional communication, both orally and in writing.
A can‑do attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional service.
Ability to follow instructions of more senior teammates.
Dedication to professional development and the success of colleagues and the firm.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Required Experience
Have earned a high school diploma, or equivalent, and completed coursework in AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or BIM software packages (Navisworks) from a technical or vocational school.
An Associate’s Degree in a field of study related to drafting and design.
A certificate in a field of study related to building drafting and design.
Certificate of Management for Building Information Modeling (CM‑BIM).
Applicable Autodesk certifications.
Active membership in drafting or modeling‑related organizations.
1–4 years of experience with the following software:
AutoCAD
Autodesk Revit
Working Conditions At JMT, we prioritize a healthy work/life balance and offer a flexible hybrid working schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed. While most of our work is desk‑based, standing, walking, bending, and lifting of minimal weight may be required. Our office environment is comfortable, with adequate lighting and temperature, and is free from noise, dust, and other hazards.
