Elevator Mechanic, Repair – American Elevator Group (AEG)
AEG is the largest independent elevator service company in North America. Kencor, part of AEG, is rapidly growing and is looking for a Repair Mechanic in the Delaware / Maryland area.
Responsibilities
Inspect elevators of all types and makes, determine the cause of faulty operation, make repairs and adjustments, and troubleshoot problems.
Diagnose equipment deficiencies and recommend major changes or requirements.
Install, maintain, and repair elevators, escalators, and other lifting equipment.
Analyze and repair failures, especially in emergency situations.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
Repair or replace defective parts.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Respond to emergency repair calls in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
Provide excellent customer service to building owners and occupants.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
State and/or city‑issued Mechanic’s license as required.
Completion of an apprenticeship program or technical school training in elevator repair.
Minimum of 4 years of elevator experience.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
Strong attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment & Hazards
Work in a variety of settings, including commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, and residential complexes.
May involve working at heights or in confined spaces.
Hazards may include electrical shock, falls, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Special Physical Demands
Lifting heavy equipment up to 50 lbs or more, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Standing for prolonged periods and working in awkward positions.
