CMM Operator - Calibration Technician
– Plymouth Tube Company
Position Summary: Maintains / coordinates Calibration Systems and provides metrology support via CMM and/or other applicable methods as needed for product/process validation.
Job Duties
Maintain Calibration System and related procedures/work instructions for calibration.
Conduct calibrations of hand held measurement devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.) per calibration schedules.
Conduct calibration of straight edges, squares, gauge pins, etc., utilizing CMM or other acceptable methods per calibration schedules.
Utilize GAGEtrak for calibration documentation.
Write and maintain calibration work instructions for each gauge type.
Work with Quality Technician to ensure outside calibration requirements are established and maintained.
Conduct CMM inspections for production products where required.
Conduct CMM inspections of product/tooling as needed for problem‑solving activities.
Perform CMM inspection for FAIs, providing data in needed formats to meet AS9100 and/or customer specific requirements.
Provide interpretation of GD&T tolerancing for Quality Engineers and Process Engineers when present in customer requirements.
Train qualified inspectors, quality or engineering team members for setup and running of existing CMM routines.
Develop and maintain new CMM inspection routines for products that require/need CMM inspection.
Set up via Rayco plates and/or custom fixtures as needed.
Write CMM inspection programs via PCDMIS based on customer and/or internal drawings.
Write instructions for setup and running of the same programs for use by qualified inspectors.
Requirements
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
3–5 years of experience with CMM set‑up and programming.
Proficient with PCDMIS or similar CMM software.
Understanding of GD&T methodology and interpretation.
Understanding of both SI and metric units of measurement.
Knowledge/experience with small tool calibration per ISO 17025 or equivalent specifications.
Experience with gauge tracking software such as GAGEtrak Pro.
Proficient with applicable handheld gauges (e.g., calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Experience writing procedures/work instructions.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
