Responsibilities The primary goal is satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery, in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Specifically, the
Machine Operator II
is responsible for programming and operating industrial equipment and machinery such as a laser machine, press brake, structural steel rolling machine, CNC milling machine, etc. in accordance with company procedures. The operator will follow a blueprint to program the machine and will be capable of placing production parts into the machine, cycling the equipment, and retrieving the part. Employee is responsible for visually inspecting parts.
Other Responsibilities
Setting up machines at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order.
Maintaining and cleaning machines before and after each shift.
Monitoring machines during each procedure to ensure optimum running.
Troubleshooting problems during machine operation.
Ensuring stocks/inventory of needed materials are ready and available at all times.
Providing relevant information regarding progress to supervisors.
Following all plant safety guidelines, practices and procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Properly using personal protective equipment when required.
Notifying supervisors/leads of problems that may occur with equipment or part quality.
Performing other activities, such as cutting, sawing, drilling, tapping, grinding, prepping kits and layouts to meet customer specifications.
Maintaining regular attendance and having reliable means of transportation.
Performing other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Prior manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
Advanced blueprint reading knowledge and the ability to follow work order instructions.
Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D is desirable.
Forklift and Overhead crane experience preferred (in-house training available).
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Team player – able to work with others assigned to machine.
Must maintain a high sense of urgency to meet and exceed all production goals.
Attentive to detail, watching for material defects and any quality issues.
Adaptable to changing demands.
Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting throughout the shift.
Capable of repetitively lifting 25-50 lbs.
Flexible to work overtime as needed, which may include weekends and/or holidays.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a typical manufacturing environment with overhead cranes and forklifts.
Overhead LED lights throughout the workspace create a bright environment for employees.
Normally clean work environment; the process creates some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes/odors, and vibration. Housekeeping is performed as needed throughout the day and at the end of each shift.
The noise level is normal for manufacturing processes with air tools, grinders, and other tools, and yearly audiometric testing is provided by the company.
Non-climate-controlled facility in the summer; each work area is provided with fans to help keep cool. In the winter it is heated.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
1-3 years’ experience operating and programming machines in a manufacturing environment.
Required Equipment
Steel Toe Shoes/Boots.
Basic tools.
