Refinery Pump Mechanic – Suncor
Join Suncor and work for one of Canada’s leading companies in the largest refinery in the Rocky Mountain region, the only petroleum refinery in Colorado. You will be accountable for repairing and maintaining centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, steam turbines, pump seals and support systems.
Minimum Requirements
Experience in repair or maintenance of rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, steam turbines, pump seals and support systems.
3 to 5 years of industrial rotating equipment experience.
High School Diploma or GED.
Legally authorized to work in the USA.
Ability to pass a Pump and Compression basic knowledge test.
Valid driver’s licence with an acceptable record to Suncor.
Responsibilities
Ensure proper PPE and tools are used safely.
Oversee visual safety checks and inspections on equipment.
Attend safety meetings, maintain housekeeping standards, and complete regulatory training.
Participate in procedures and programs focused on safety and mechanical integrity.
Communicate maintenance issues openly and consistently.
Partner with operations to suggest and implement best repair or service options.
Build strong relationships to influence and lead in safety aspects of contractor management.
Location and Other Key Details
Commerce City refinery, 5455 Brighton Blvd.
Regular 40‑hour work week, Monday‑Friday with potential extended hours.
Physical demands include heavy lifting, ladder use, and work on elevated sites.
Pre‑employment assessments are required.
Hourly Rate and Compensation Details
Hourly rate: $53.04, with annual increases.
Union represented position under USW 12-477.
