Altec

Purpose of Position Fabricate, position, and form structural metal/fiberglass products.

Responsibilities

Use and maintain PPE.

Set up and operate fabricating machines (brakes, rolls, shears, saws, presses) to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal/fiberglass plates, sheets, and structural shapes in accordance with blueprints and specifications.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and operation sequences.

Select, position, and secure dies, blades, cutters, and fixtures on the machine using rules, squares, shims, templates, hand tools, and built‑in gauges.

Start the machine, observe its operation, and reposition the workpiece, change dies, or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes.

Inspect or measure work using rule, gauges, and templates.

Lift workpiece manually or with hoist, and position and secure it on the machine table in a drilling jig or holding fixture.

Move machine controls to feed tools into the workpiece, engaging automatic feed or manually holding.

Observe machine operation and verify conformance of the workpiece to specifications using fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers.

Change worn cutting tools using wrenches.

Adjust cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut via machine controls.

Support the Altec Production System (APS).

Follow established safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, and practices.

Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.

Maintain daily time records.

Other job duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

High School Diploma or GED required.

Vocational training in lieu of experience will be considered.

Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.

Basic computer usage knowledge required.

Ability to use measuring equipment and read blueprints and schematics required.

General knowledge of at least one of the following desired: Mechanical or Manufacturing/Production processes.

Experience Level Adjustment 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred. If a selected candidate meets the qualifications for a more experienced level, the job level may be adjusted.
