Reporting This position reports to the Engineering Tooling/Machinist (Supervisor).

Responsibilities Under minimal supervision, you will:

Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, and set up machine tools.

Operate and program lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and hire-phase CNC lathe/mills.

Fabricate, repair, and maintain molds, tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and mechanical hand tools.

Heat-treat steels using the shop furnace and machine hardened steel with precision (±0.001”).

Maintain tight tolerances while ensuring product quality.

Safety

Understands and follows plant safety procedures.

Avoids hazardous conditions and uses appropriate protective equipment.

Maintains a clean, organized work area and supports Lean 5S.

Participates in plant safety objectives.

Job Functions

Operate open setup mills, lathes, and surface grinders.

Program CNC lathes and CNC mills.

Repair molds and tooling to keep tolerances within ±0.001”.

Read and interpret engineering drawings.

Fabricate tooling from engineering drawings.

Operate a TIG welder and use a variety of hand tools and fixtures.

Inspect tooling for defects and verify dimensions with measuring instruments (dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, micrometers).

Repair fixtures as necessary.

Follow all company policies and regulations.

Perform quality checks, respond to projects promptly, and take ownership of product quality.

Carry out duties assigned by the supervisor or team lead.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

5‑10 years of relevant experience in a similar environment.

Experience in lieu of education will be considered.

Knowledge of various production equipment types.

Strong mechanical/electrical abilities and interpersonal skills.

Good communication skills and the ability to read blueprints.

Injection molding skills desired.

Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Skills & Training

Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.

Safe bending, twisting, and turning.

Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Capability to stand for extended periods.

Good hand dexterity and strong math skills.

Clear verbal and written English communication.
