Michael Foods, Inc. is located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 team members who work together to provide customers with the best possible potato products.
Responsibilities Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical maintenance repairs to support the plant facility. Repairs, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment. Uses hand tools and testing instruments. Dismantles machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspects completed work for conformance with local building and safety codes. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times and reinforce safety as a core value.
Inspects facility equipment on a daily basis performing various production startup and coverage tasks.
Maintains various plant machines by performing troubleshooting and general maintenance.
Troubleshoots any repair‑electrical, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
Uses prints, specifications, and verbal instructions to make repairs to ordinary plumbing and electrical systems. Installs and threads pipe, performs soldering and cutting.
Assists in the installation of equipment.
Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.
Follows all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
Reports all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, or FSQ Manager.
Participates in and adheres to all HazMat, Confined Space and LOTO trainings.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge required; familiarity with electrical schematics.
Successful completion of the technician test administered by Bob Evans Farms.
Understanding of basic lock‑out, tag‑out procedures.
Judgment to determine sequences of maintenance operations within standard practice limits.
Ability to work in somewhat disagreeable conditions (dust, noise, fumes, vibrations).
Ability to work overtime as required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to use reasoning to solve problems.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Education/Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D required.
A minimum of one year’s industrial equipment experience required.
