JOB SUMMARY In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886 as well as support our food safety programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. The purpose of this position is to support production, quality and warehouse through maintaining and improving the on-going reliability of the plant equipment and machinery. This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.

PRIMARY WORK SHIFT Works shift as assigned and overtime as required. Employee will be assigned to a 12-hour rotating shift which includes weekends and potential holiday work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.

Safe work habits including knowledge and understanding of National Electric code, NFPA, and OSHA regulations as well as general electrical and mechanical procedures.

Read and interpret blueprints, ladder logic diagrams, schematics, and process flow charts.

Repair and maintain all mechanical systems including bearings, seals, lubrication systems, alignment, electrical control circuits, machine controls and complex systems.

Continuously upgrade skills and knowledge to remain current with the latest technology.

Provide training and knowledge transfer to co-workers as required.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment in an everyday audit ready state.

Report any unsafe conditions or actions to company supervision immediately.

Attend all training sessions as required.

Act in a support role to the maintenance and engineering department.

Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Must successfully complete the electrical test.

Must be able to communicate and work with all employees.

Ability to weld including resistance, MIG and TIG welding.

Familiarity with PLC systems and ability to connect to system, interpret data, use program files to aid in troubleshooting.

Create and alter logic to achieve desired results.

Ability to generate new drawings or make changes to existing blueprints to reflect new wiring or wiring changes.

Working knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, vectors, forces, statistics, heat and properties of matter.

Demonstrated ability to use trouble‑shooting tools to include o-scope, multi‑meter and calibrator.

Technical ability to analyze and troubleshoot DC and AC circuits, electric motors, three phase circuits and power distribution systems, digital and analogue control circuits, relay and PLC control circuits, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.

Technical ability to alter, troubleshoot, and modify HMI (Human Machine Interfaces).

Technical ability to program and trouble shoot, VFD’s and Servo Motion control circuits.

Familiarity with machine shop equipment as well as the ability to accurately design, develop, document and fabricate machine parts.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one‑on‑one and small group situations to co‑workers, supervisors, and managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, including: moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection. Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
