Machinist Department: Manufacturing Reports To: Operations Lead

Invio Automation’s Solutions division specializes in single station robotic cells, multi-station fabrication & assembly lines, bonding & welding technologies, vision systems, and packaging process. Application capabilities within our Solutions division include thermal bonding, web handling, force plotting, heat staking, high viscosity pumps, precision dispensing, impulse bag sealing, and needle bending. Invio Automation’s Technologies division includes highly differentiated Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) for heavyweight applications, turnkey assembly lines, welding automation, and custom lift-assist & secure tools for safety critical applications.

A machinist must be able verify conformance of machined work to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, or fixed or telescoping gauges. Study machining instructions, job orders, or blueprints to determine dimensional or finish specifications, sequences of operations, setups, or tooling requirements. May also change worn cutting tools, using wrenches. Select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools, according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties, and install tools in spindles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following job orders, or blueprints to determine dimensional or finish specifications, sequences of operations, setups, or tooling requirements

Must have the ability to operate and program CNC controls using EZ Cam / Master CAM

Position and secure work pieces on tables, using bolts, jigs, clamps, shims, or other holding devices

Move machine controls to lower tools to work pieces and to engage automatic feeds

Turn valves and direct flow of coolants or cutting oil over cutting areas

Establish zero reference points on work pieces, such as at the intersections of two edges or over hole locations

Observe drilling or boring machine operations to detect any problems

Lift work pieces onto worktables either manually or with hoists or direct crane operators to lift and position work pieces

Perform minor assembly, such as fastening parts with nuts, bolts, or screws, using power tools or hand tools

Verify that work piece reference lines are parallel to the axis of table rotation, using dial indicators mounted in spindles

In an effort to meet and exceed quality standards of our customers, working weekends and overtime is required based upon business needs

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be knowledgeable of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Monitoring gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Using mathematics to solve problems.

The ability to quickly move your hands together, or use two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

The ability to see details at close range.

The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects of 10-15 pound weight capacity.

Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.

Working knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Good verbal and written skills.

Proven organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize and work with limited supervision.

Ability to explain how and why specific conclusions were reached.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

EDUCATION High School diploma or Associates degree from an accredited community college or vocational school. Job related experience and/or training will be considered in lieu of post-secondary education.
