This position is based out of our Bardstown, KY bottling location.
What The Role Is The Electrical Controls Technician will serve as the expert in the development of manufacturing and material handling systems involving programming, machine controls, and troubleshooting with a specific focus on high quality products, employee involvement, continuous improvement and profitability. The Electrical Controls Technician will work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams to support new and improved processes. The Technician will provide support for distilling operations, bottling operations, and automated warehousing operations. The position will predominately be scheduled to work first shift, but depending on organizational needs, coverage occasionally may be required for evening shifts and weekends.
How You Will Spend Your Time
Identify, develop, and implement electrical control systems and modifications for a wide variety of manufacturing production equipment. This will include distillery operations, material handling systems, and bottling operations.
Programming of PLC machine controls including but not limited to Allen Bradley, Allen Bradley Panelview, Panelview Plus, HMI’s, and Schneider Electric HMI’s
Troubleshoot and repair controls on production equipment in a timely manner
Provide electrical control support to production equipment and processes
Consult, develop, and train Industrial Maintenance Technicians and Apprentices in electrical and electronic applications including robotics, conduit and electrical wiring, control wiring, relay logic, ladder logic, motor controls, PLC troubleshooting, panel-view troubleshooting, OEM operator interface modules and AC/DC motor troubleshooting
Prioritize repair efforts to minimize impact on production downtime when faced with multiple equipment issues
Ensure safety compliance to OSHA and company guidelines
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline. Equivalent industry experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Minimum 3 years' experience in Electrical, Electronics, Controls/Industrial Automation, Computer Programming, and/or System Maintenance
Advanced proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting applications
Experience with network setup and troubleshooting and virtual machine familiarity
Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
Technical - Electrical and Controls Experience with the following:
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix5000 Hardware
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix5000 Ladder Logic Programming
RSview (Factory Talk) HMI
DeviceNet
Ethernet
Allen-Bradley Powerflex40 VFD’s
480V 3 Phase Power
Control System Diagrams and Schematics
Material Handling Equipment
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
Strong communication skills for interaction with all levels of the organization
Strong teamwork approach with employees and other departments
Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills
Good project management skills and ability to organize multiple projects
Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office and PLC applications
Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
Previous experience in a distilled spirits industry
Physical Requirements
Stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms.
Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
