This onsite position is located at the Thunder Ranch Wind Farm in Marland, OK.
Overview Wind turbine technicians inspect, troubleshoot, install components, and repair wind turbines and their internal and external components such as controllers.
Responsibilities
Complete all scheduled maintenance for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment in a timely manner to maximize generation
Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot minor components and assist with some major components
Perform current and voltage calculations as necessary
Initiate reports and records associated with maintenance and repairs
Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, and job-specific documentation required to conduct maintenance and repairs safely
Qualifications
Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment (e.g., voltage testers, amp clamps, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment tools, hand and power tools) and heavy equipment including crane and rigging requirements
Experience with wind farm operations and maintenance
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (criteria described)
Ability to work around low‑ and medium‑voltage equipment
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to other operational sites within the US
Availability to respond to site emergencies 24/7, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Capability to climb turbine towers 100+ m heights approximately 5‑15 times per week and work comfortably at heights of 300 ft or more in confined spaces
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs daily, meet safety gear weight limit (≤310 lb), and use PPE such as arc flash suits, face masks, and high‑voltage gloves for extended periods
Ability to pass a physical fitness exam and maintain a weight ≤280 lb
Strong attention to detail and electrical theory knowledge, including use of DMM, meggers, multimeter and calibration equipment
3+ years of relevant working experience in wind energy or a B.S. degree in electrical or technical field plus 1+ year related experience
