Job Overview Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, this position will plan, lay‑out, lead and inspect the work of a crew of plumbers and other workers including incarcerated workers assigned in plumbing installation and repair work.
Responsibilities
Plan, lay out, direct and assist with the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of standard plumbing equipment used in water, gas, oil, sewage, fire control, steam and refrigeration systems.
Instruct, lead, and work with a small incarcerated worker crew in installing and repairing pumps and locating trouble spots in plumbing systems; ensure safety rules are observed and may supervise the maintenance of a Plumbing Shop.
Prepare working sketches and estimates for needed plumbing equipment and materials; maintain job records and prepare reports.
Assist in planning and work of abatement and repairs to asbestos‑containing materials as required; maintain job records.
Plan and lay out schedules; requisition materials and equipment; read schematics, plans and blueprints; ensure materials are prepared for scheduled work.
Contact outside vendors for price quotes; prepare forms such as CDC 954; keep simple work records.
Perform administrative duties such as adhering to Department policies, submitting administrative requests, reporting time, attending meetings, training and seminars.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum educational and certification qualifications as set in the Class Specification.
Recognized education program providing OSHA “competent person” or “certified supervisor” credentials.
Experience in plumbing installation and repair, preferably in correctional or institutional facilities.
Desirable Qualifications
Willingness to create and promote an equitable and inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated and valued.
Work Location San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, Marin County, California.
Salary $6,291.00 – $7,547.00 per month.
Employment Type Permanent, Full Time. In Office (no telework).
