NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a full-time

CMT Engineering Field Technician

for our

Tampa, FL

office. This role involves working on projects throughout the Tampa Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) with occasional travel to the Orlando area.

Responsibilities

Perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, rebar, and masonry/mortar/grout to ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and project specifications.

Review blueprints to prepare for field observations on active construction sites.

Accurately document field activities, observations, and test results, noting conformance or deviations from project plans and specifications.

Utilize Metafield and other field/laboratory information management systems to record testing results.

Communicate field and laboratory results to Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management teams, general contractors, and clients.

Calibrate field and laboratory equipment in accordance with industry codes and standards.

Qualifications

Prior experience in construction materials testing/inspection of soils, concrete, masonry, rebar, and/or asphalt is required.

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level 1 certification is highly preferred.

International Code Council (ICC) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) certifications are a huge plus.

Ability to routinely lift 40–50 lbs. (samples and equipment) is required.

Capability to maneuver equipment (e.g., loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven terrain and active construction sites.

Willingness to travel for short‑duration, overnight assignments.
