Job Purpose
Work includes assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. You will work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include cutting and shaping metal to precision dimensions, and may communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of part assemblies. You will check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances and identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
Nature of Duties
Decision‑making abilities in complex situations
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Advanced knowledge of GD&T ASME Y14.5‑2009
Set up machinery independently, including:
Planning set up
Acquiring all tooling & gages before starting set up
Selecting correct tooling for the job
Building fixtures if needed
Clamping and positioning fixtures correctly
Setting tooling offsets
Proofreading programs
Correctly completing 1st parts
Deburring and inspecting 1st parts
Submitting 1st part for First Article Inspection (FIA)
Making precise and accurate parts in single and production runs
Maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area
Maintaining company equipment
Ensuring all programs, tooling and fixtures are properly saved when a job is complete
Participating and initiating continuous improvement of processes
Abiding by all company and safety regulations
Running multiple machines when required
Using idle time productively
Education and Experience
5 years of experience in CNC Lathe Operations with Fanuc controls
At least 3 years of experience in a job shop environment
