POSITION SUMMARY: Working under the supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician B performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. Responsibilities include chassis component repair, vehicle refuse bodies, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drivetrain and steering systems, along with basic tire services such as replacement, rotation and tread depth checks. This role supports a single fleet of state‑of‑the‑art equipment, ensuring drivers can consistently run their routes.

Principal Responsibilities
Maintain a working knowledge and moderate skill proficiency with vehicle components and systems to perform preventative and repair functions on‑site and on the road.
Repair and maintain chassis components, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic and electrical systems), and air & hydraulic braking systems.
Engine repair and maintenance.
Suspension, drivetrain, and steering system work.
Heating and air‑conditioning service.
Line maintenance welding and fabrication.
Provide safe road service when necessary.
Diagnose malfunctions using electronic tools.
Complete required Company training programs.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic understanding of work‑order labor time standards.
Experience or knowledge of maintenance on Classes 1–5 light/medium duty and heavy‑duty Class 7–8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1–T8) are a plus.
Commercial Driver’s License a plus.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 1 year of technician experience with gasoline and diesel equipment diagnosis and repair, or anticipated graduation from an accredited automotive college or technical school within 3 months.
Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision on heavy‑truck or automotive systems such as suspensions, steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions.
