Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced machinist with previous gearing experience and proficiency in Fanuc or Okuma machining. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC machining, with experience in lathes or mills, and will be responsible for setting up and operating machines to produce, repair, or refine products according to detailed specifications.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate machines to produce, repair, or refine products according to detailed specifications.
Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, and adjust machines as necessary.
Operate machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, hobbs, shapers, broaches, drills, and auxiliary machines to make metallic workpieces.
Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications.
Start machines and turn handwheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.
Position, adjust, and secure stock material or workpieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists.
Make adjustments to machines to compensate for tool wear and material compositions.
Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
Inspect workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using a variety of measuring instruments.
Perform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or workpieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
Verify calibration on measuring tools before using.
Perform First Article Inspection and In Process inspection on parts to verify that they meet engineering specifications.
Follow Non Conformance work instructions.
Document time in the MES system accurately.
Work safely and promote a safe working environment.
Keep working area clean and organized and maintain housekeeping to a high standard.
Set up and adjust machines and follow all work instructions.
Deburr, stamp, clean, and package parts according to specifications.
Essential Skills
One to two years of work-related experience and/or training with six months of machining experience.
High School diploma or GED.
Ability to set-up and operate at least one machining family.
Understanding and following all product-related processes and procedures.
Conduct tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Knowledge of the use of a variety of basic hand tools (e.g., wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers).
Basic knowledge of blueprint reading, including a general understanding of terms.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Fanuc and Okuma machining systems.
Knowledge of calipers, gearing, and troubleshooting.

Work Environment This position is set in a machine shop environment located in Olathe, KS. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential overtime on Saturdays.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 – $26.00/hr.
