Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Design Drafter. This role will take place at our growing facility in Hodges, SC.

The Design Drafter role is a unique opportunity to develop best‑in‑class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. The design drafter will provide technical expertise on busway products and be essential in annual engineering growth projects. Working with Lead Design Engineers and other members of the Engineering team, the drafter will provide necessary expertise in detail design of Eaton’s Low Voltage Busway Products and Accessories.

The expected annual salary range is $68,000 – $99,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You’ll Do

Develop technical communications: datasheets, interface control documents, test plans, etc.

Design, model, and test product prototypes. Maintain and improve existing products.

Work on cross‑functional teams using the Eaton PROLaunch product development process. Integrate best practices from each functional team to deliver a high‑quality, best‑in‑class design.

Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA).

Represent the product line as a technical consultant.

Design technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line competitive.

Communicate new designs and products with the product line and monitor standards.

Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during the development of products and during the upgrade of existing products. Provide directions to production employees on technical issues. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards.

Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs.

Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Drafting from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in design and manufacturing processes.

Eaton will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.

No relocation benefit is offered. Only candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of the Hodges facility (active duty military exempt).

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience with product life‑cycle management systems.

Minimum of 2 years of experience with 3D CAD tools (Inventor).

Skills

Knowledge of drafting standards (ASME Y14 Series).

Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma.

Validation testing experience.

Familiarity with simulation analysis.

Experience in engineering.

Fabrication methods for sheet metal, plastic, copper, and aluminum.

Knowledge of UL 857, IEEE C37.23, UL 98, UL 489.

Working knowledge of regulatory standards for low‑voltage distribution equipment in the U.S.
