Mechanic II-2nd Shift – Amy’s Kitchen Position Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic II will perform routine equipment and facility repairs and service while complying with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Perform routine repairs and service on equipment and facility.

Minimize production downtime due to mechanical issues through quick response.

Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and procedures such as lubricating, cleaning, adjusting, etc.

Develop mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair skills with guidance from the Maintenance Supervisor, Mechanic 1, or Maintenance Manager.

Utilize a wide variety of hand and portable tools to perform assignments.

Assist in running services to new or relocated equipment (air, water, electrical).

Perform carpentry work as needed.

Learn packaging equipment setup and changeover including fine tuning and necessary adjustment.

Comply with the rules and regulations set forth in Amy's Kitchen Inc. employee handbook, safety manual and the GMP booklet.

Follow lockout/tag out safety procedures during service and repair.

Use personal protective equipment as required.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

During peak season or based on company needs overtime is required.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

Well-rounded knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used within the Maintenance Mechanic's trade.

Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as add, subtract, multiply and divide. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Interpretation: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Frequently required to stand and walk. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and extreme heat. Noise level is usually loud.
