Beveler Location: North Charleston, SC

Salary: $23.41 per hour

Description Perform all kinds of beveling, welding, layout, and cutting using gas, sector track torches, hand grinders, and electric cutting/welding equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive instructions, print workflows, and work orders.

Plan working procedures, tools, and material requirements.

Bevel parts by cutting and grinding various metals.

Repair parts using welding techniques and appropriate equipment.

Clean and prepare surfaces for welding.

Build up worn or defective surfaces.

Lay out per customer drawings.

Use burning equipment to cut material to size and shape.

Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Read blueprints and understand GD&T.

Minimum of three years of welding or relevant experience.

Attention and care to prevent injury to others when performing work.

Pass a math test.

Ability to work in a team environment successfully.

Perform tasks safely as instructed orally and in written format.

Ability to read and speak English.

Knowledge of the metric system.

Ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently.

Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance.

Pass forklift training and maintain current company forklift license.

Read measuring tapes and calipers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written instructions; gather information from meters, dials, calibrated scales, and visual display units; receive and understand instructions via radio or phone; summarize verbal instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to perform basic math calculations and analyze written basic numerical information; use ruler, scales, and other physical measuring instruments.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to follow instructions, in a logical order, given in oral, written, or diagram form; apply quality standards against product and determine if defective and degree of defect; compile gathered information; solve practical problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, occasionally stoop, kneel, and/or climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Ability to identify colors and make fine visual discrimination; ability to make fine judgment of texture; ability to remember verbal and written instructions over a period of a few minutes to several days.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles—eye protection required—fumes, machine vibration, noisy conditions, high temperatures, and occasional restricted space work area.
