About the College
York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two‑year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Electrical Line Worker Instructor – Responsibilities
Provides students with appropriate course materials (syllabus, calendar, policy statements or guidelines). Adheres to course competencies in the preparation and delivery of quality instruction. Provides appropriate and timely feedback. Maintains a positive environment for optimum student performance. Provides for and values appropriate student input. Maintains accepted standards of achievement.
Maintains all records and documentation required for students and for equipment utilized in the course. Inspects and makes minor repairs to equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards. Refers major repairs to program manager or designated repair centers.
Coordinates and promotes educational services that strengthen workforce development in the community. Collaborates with community organizations, secondary schools, and professional associations to promote the College. Serves on advisory committees as requested. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with College personnel. Adds value to the achievement of the Division’s goals of sustainability.
Provides appropriate academic and career guidance to students. May be assigned to develop and coordinate varied programming within the Division.
Establishes a professional development plan and participates in activities for self‑improvement in keeping with the Division and College Mission. Participates in appropriate activities that introduce new ideas or practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
At least five years experience performing duties as a Class A line worker in the electric or telecom industry.
A high school diploma and at least five years of utility industry and training‑related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license.
