Position Overview We are looking for ambitious team members with a thirst for personal growth within a team environment, with a passion for service on the job, and the dream to be more than they are today! The successful Mechanic will be mechanically sound, safety minded, but a great problem solver. This position is responsible for heavy duty engine repairs, maintenance, manual transmission upkeep, electronic engine controls, and general electric and hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repair.

Essential Job Functions

Performs preventive maintenance inspections on all trucks, trailers, lifts

Performs general maintenance repairs on all trucks, trailers, lifts

Works with other shop employees to maintain a clean working environment

Performs preventive maintenance inspections: According to the schedule, performs all needed repairs indicated by preventive maintenance inspection

Performs general repairs to electrical systems, starters, lights, alternators and wiring harness, brakes, including installing engines, gasoline and transmissions, front and rear ends, air systems, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, reefers, fuel tankers

Performs other duties as required

Maintain a proficiency level of at least 80%

Works closely with and is accountable to Shop Supervisor

May take direction from Master Skilled I & II Mechanics

Also work with drivers in order to diagnose problems

Some basic training in gasoline engines, hydraulics, air conditioning and electrical systems of equivalent experience

Some knowledge of gasoline engines, vehicle and trailer electrical and air conditioning system, hydraulic system, and welding

Two years of mechanic experience

Ability to diagnose mechanical problems

Ability to perform general repairs on gasoline engines, electrical and air conditioning systems and hydraulic systems

Ability to perform types of welding such as structural steel and aluminum wire welding

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Must possess a basic set of hand tools up to 1/2 inch drive set

Education & Qualifications

Certifications, plus 2 years work experience preferred

Strong organizational skills and able to work well in a structured environment

Detail focused

Ability to work on multiple tasks or projects

Possess advanced analytical skills

Experienced computer skills

Excellent communication skills

Commitment to Excellence and holding team to highest standards
