Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, repair, modify, install, and replace building, laboratory, and other plumbing systems.
Locate and repair leaks in plumbing systems conveying water, gases, and other fluids.
Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing systems, pumps, controls, electronic valves, and backflow prevention assemblies.
Clear drain blockages and replace fixtures.
Assist other technicians and participate in the On‑Call program.
Provide timely customer service; keep supervisors updated on work order status.
Inspect completed work for code conformance and quality.
Read blueprints and follow specifications.
Required Qualifications
High school graduation or GED.
Three years of journey‑level plumbing experience.
Licensed as a Journey Level Plumber of Texas or able to obtain within 180 days.
Excellent communication and safety compliance skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
Completed accredited apprenticeship or technical school.
More than three years of journey‑level experience.
Four or more years of industrial plumbing experience.
Master Plumber, Backflow Prevention Tester, or Customer Service Inspector licenses.
Experience in a university setting.
Ability to work in a team environment, strong customer service, stable work history, and computer literacy.
Report writing skills and completion of the Leader Development Program.

All weather, extreme temperatures, chemical fumes, electrical, mechanical, and biohazard exposure possible.
Confined spaces, manholes, tunnels, elevated work, extended shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.
Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.; twisting, grasping, pushing, pulling, and bending.
May require tuberculosis screening, respirator use, or driving University vehicles.
Participation in on‑call program.
