Description
Completion of a Company Background Investigation, being a U.S. citizen, and possession of a DoD Secret Clearance are required for this position.
The Aegis Combat System is an American integrated naval weapons system that uses computers and radars to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets. The Aegis Combat System (ACS) implements advanced command and control (command and decision, or C&D, in Aegis parlance). It is composed of the Aegis Weapon System (AWS), the fast-reaction component of the Aegis Anti-Aircraft Warfare (AAW) capability. AWS, the heart of Aegis, comprises the AN/SPY-1 Radar, MK 99 Fire Control System, Weapon Control System (WCS), the Command and Decision Suite, and the Standard Missile family of weapons. Aegis Baseline 9 and 10 software allows enhanced integration of sensors and weapons.
The best candidate will be involved with Shipboard Sustainment and Support and will:
Serve as the technical expert in shipboard sustainment and support requirements for the AEGIS Weapon System Tactical Networks, Mission Critical Enclosures (MCE), Common Processing System (CPS), Common Display System (CDS), Operational Readiness Test (ORTS) System, AEGIS Combat Training System (ACTS), and the AEGIS LAN Interconnect System (ALIS) equipment, ensuring these systems can support all required external interfaces. Candidate shall have advanced knowledge of Aegis Computing baselines 9 and 10. Duties may also require providing Aegis Computer & Network support to Aegis Computer baselines 5 and 7.
Provide AEGIS Computer Infrastructure (ACI) sustainment and support during AEGIS Modernization and future baseline upgrades, Combat System Ship Qualification Trials, Post Selected Availabilities, special program loads, and supportability testing.
Provide distance support and onboard support, troubleshooting, and resolving Aegis Computer and Display Infrastructure casualties, and develop maintenance procedures in support of AEGIS networks, Computers, and Displays.
Prepare, review, and/or modify/update technical documentation relative to all phases of lifetime support.
Provide Customer and Stakeholder reports related to tasking as required.
Additional In‑Service Engineering tasking as assigned.
Minimum of 4 years as an Enlisted Fire Control Technician with a relevant AEGIS IT Eng Tech NEC or AEGIS FCS Eng Tech NEC (Such as V69A, V75A, V36A, V42A, VO5A, V06A, V14A, V23A, V28A, etc.). This position is for a Fire Control Technician with recent “hands‑on” AEGIS technician experience. This is a technician position and not a supervisory position.
Minimum of 4 years of shipboard experience.
Must possess a secret clearance or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Tasking will include working aboard U.S. Navy Ships/vessels. Must be able to climb tall ladders, inspect from aerial lifts, use standard tools, wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work in adverse environments for long periods.
Technicians must be physically able to climb up and/or down a pilot’s ladder to board a naval vessel underway at sea and stay onboard on a U.S. Naval Vessel for several underway days.
Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 pounds and be able to walk to/from job sites.
May require overnight travel aboard U.S. Navy ships to conduct tasking while the ship is underway conducting testing/operations.
Communication skills in briefing at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work with and foster a strong team environment with multiple different organizations.
Analytical skills to effectively track, manage, and status multiple technical issues.
Must have good Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
