Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting our client with the appointment of an experienced
Painter
to join their production team.
This is a hands‑on role within a busy fabrication environment, playing a key part in delivering high‑quality protective coatings to structural steel components in line with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
The Role As a Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and applying protective paint systems to structural steel, ensuring durability, quality, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
Applying paints and protective coatings to structural steel and fabricated components
Preparing steel surfaces through cleaning, blasting, and chemical treatment processes
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and paint schedules
Operating spray equipment, brushes, and rollers to achieve consistent, high‑quality finishes
Mixing and matching coatings to ensure colour accuracy and specification compliance
Monitoring, cleaning, and maintaining painting and spraying equipment
Safely operating overhead cranes when handling steel components
Working in accordance with site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
Experience as a Structural Steel Painter or in a similar industrial painting role
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Proven experience with surface preparation techniques, including blasting and pressure washing
Good working knowledge of industrial paints, coatings, and application methods
Experience using spray guns and associated painting equipment
A strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Experience using overhead cranes (advantageous)
Personal Attributes
Reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated
Able to work on own initiative within a production environment
Willing to undertake on‑the‑job training to further develop skills and knowledge
