Cable Assembler – Level 2

Responsibilities
Fabricate wire and cable harness assemblies using appropriate tools and documentation
Communicate with supervisors and managers
Read, understand, and interpret drawings, bills of material, and other documentation with minimal supervision
Cut and strip wire to specifications
Crimp terminals to wire ends
Insert pins in connectors
Install and shrink insulation sleeving
Install cable ties
Assemble simple harnesses
Perform mechanical assembly
Assist in the training of Cable Assembly 1 employees
Qualifications
Read, write, and speak English
Understand and execute instructions from management
Ability to read drawings and wiring diagrams
Use appropriate hand tools to cut, strip, pin, and tin wire
Use automated machinery for cutting, stripping, and pinning wire
Route and tie cable assemblies
Prefer a high school diploma or 2-4 years’ experience fabrication cable harness
Must be able to obtain or be currently certified to: Workmanship Requirements for Electronics and Cable Assemblies in accordance with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620
Must be capable of performing repetitive motion tasks
Sufficient strength in hands to use hand tools for extended periods to crimp pins on wires
Must be able to differentiate colors
Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
Ability to sit and/or stand for 2-hour periods
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
Safety glasses required when cutting wire with hand tools or cleaning with alcohol
