We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operators to support underground utility and site development crews across the DC–MD–VA region. In this critical role, you will operate excavators, dozers, loaders, and related machinery to complete earthwork, grading, trenching, and pipe installation while upholding the highest safety standards. Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and skid steers. Perform land clearing, trenching, grading, backfilling, and utility support work. Use site plans, lasers, transits, or GPS systems for accurate grading and excavation. Conduct equipment inspections, pre-operation checks, and basic maintenance. Assist crews with laborer duties when not operating equipment. Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and company safety procedures. Mark pipe and fitting locations in underground trenches. Load, unload, and transport machinery to/from project sites. Report equipment issues and participate in daily safety briefings. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet project deadlines. Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or underground utility work. Strong working knowledge of land development and utility installation. Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions. Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Licenses & Certifications
Required: Valid Driver’s License, OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification. Preferred: CDL License, Rigging & Signaling, Confined Space Training, Excavation & Awareness certifications. Physical Requirements
Strength & Endurance: Lift and carry up to 75 lbs, climb on/off equipment, and work up to 12 hours outdoors. Dexterity & Control: Operate controls precisely in rough or confined terrain. Mobility: Bend, kneel, crouch, and maintain footing on uneven ground. Environmental Tolerance: Work in all weather conditions; tolerate noise, vibration, and dust. PPE Use: Wear safety gear including hard hats, vests, boots, gloves, glasses, and hearing protection.
