Job Summary Perform repairs and/or maintenance to vehicles as assigned. Continually work as a team to accomplish a customer’s "Completely Satisfied" attitude. Greet or acknowledge every customer. Help fellow employees without being asked. If you see a piece of trash, pick it up and throw it away, and whatever it takes to get the job done and have satisfied customers.
Responsibilities
Perform assigned vehicle repairs to the standards of the factory and dealership specifications. Obtain clearance from management whenever this cannot be done.
To perform the best quality work, it is mandatory to test, road test if necessary, to diagnose the customer's concerns. Perform necessary repairs, then test, road test if necessary, to assure that all concerns have been completed.
Solicit help from Body Shop Manager when necessary.
Follow factory and dealership repair procedures when performing warranty work. All parts on warranty repairs must be returned to parts department for tagging to hold for factory inspection.
Recommend needed repairs or maintenance on customer cars to the Body Shop Manager or Estimator when appropriate.
Be familiar with technical bulletins, suggest training needs to management and participate in training programs that are offered.
Properly complete written estimates with supplement sheet if necessary.
Inform Body Shop Manager when a job is started, finished or interrupted. Be particularly attentive to repair orders on vehicles marked "RUSH" or "Customer Waiting" and keep Body Shop Manager informed of progress.
Plan for most efficient movements when relocating vehicles. Make sure that the numbered hang tag is on the rear view mirror so the next person can identify the vehicle.
Return customer cars in a clean condition with seats, radios, mirrors and convenience items returned to their original positions.
There will be absolutely no smoking, drinking, or eating in any customer area.
All technicians are A.S.E. certified, also I-Car for your skill group, and kept up to date.
Maintain a passing average on exams (and any other exams that GM may have) and complete before the deadline.
Keep your work area clean, free of clutter and neat in appearance.
All scrap metal and parts remain the property of Cavender Auto Group unless other arrangements have been made.
Accountability Every effort has been made to repair the vehicle right the first time. Every effort is made to repair the customer’s car on time. Maintain consistently high standards of technical efficiency. Participate in technical training and personal skill development programs. Observe all safety regulations. Waste no supplies. Maintain a clean, well‑organized workplace.
Physical Requirements and Conditions This position requires a considerable amount of stooping, bending, lifting, twisting, and walking. Body Shop Technicians must be able to drive multiple types of vehicles without any special driving devices. Lifting up to 65 pounds is required. Technicians will work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and will be required to stand for most of the day. Exposure to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and other non‑hazardous and hazardous materials is expected.
