Job Description Looking for a carpenter with experience or a background in construction. Work to include new construction/remodel framing, interior and exterior finishing, metal roofing, and some tile and hardwood installation.
Duties / Responsibilities
Collaborates with employees concerning work orders, prints, and sketches to understand the structure that needs to be built or repaired.
Estimates equipment, tool, and material requirements for each job.
Builds, dismantles, and repairs structures, walls, roofs, glass, and siding as assigned.
Operates all necessary tools to complete a job.
Prepares and dismantles scaffolding as needed.
Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.
Performs cabinet installation and flooring. laminate, vinyl, carpet, and tile.
Installs foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
Fits and installs window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, and interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
Required Skills / Abilities
Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to draw accurate sketches to communicate the specifications for projects.
Ability to take accurate measurements and calculations.
Ability to install insulation, hang and tap drywall, match texture, and paint.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Walking and standing for long periods of time, driving, sitting, climbing.
Ability to climb ladders and work at ceiling heights.
Ability to work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces under buildings).
Repetitive pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying objects.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
