Position: Rigger. This is a temporary project in Greenwood, SC. Start date: November 1. Working 4/10’s on days. Duration is 3 to 4 weeks. Pay rate: $32/hour. Per diem: $100 for days worked if living 60 miles or further from the facility.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Selects cables, ropes, pullup, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
Attach pullup and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole boom with bolts and clamps.
Assembles and disassembles cranes.
Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle.
Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wire rope and chains to crane hook.
Gives direction to operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled using hand signals and radios.
Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
Responsible for observing and monitoring others observance of all safety rules.
Maintain current certifications to meet regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications Education — no minimum education requirements. Experience — 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
