Machine Operator - Day Shift - $18.50/hour - 6:00am-2:00pm Monday thru Friday
We are currently looking for a Machine Operator based in Houston, TX. The role reports to the Supervisor and involves setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting machines. The operator will also inspect parts to specifications and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality.
Responsibilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑speed environment, following standardized work and adhering to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.
Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
Perform necessary pre‑operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment.
Operate and monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
Complete documentation including daily production reports, regular quality inspections, and safety inspections of equipment.
Actively participate in Atkore’s safety program.
Cross‑train in different areas of the shop as required.
Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
Ability to work scheduled hours Monday‑Friday.
Experience as a Machine Operator or in a manufacturing environment (a plus).
Knowledge of Production Procedures.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
Attention to detail.
Teamwork.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to multitask.
Knowledge of lean production processes preferred.
Ability to stand and work a 10‑hour shift in a non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing environment.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Time management.
Process improvement.
Inventory control.
Data entry skills.
Analyze information.
