Summary
Function as a Heavy-Duty Diesel skilled level technician who is able to diagnose and repair in all areas, in addition to being specialized in particular areas of repair.
Essential Duties 1. Diagnostics, Repairs & Technical Work
Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and factory standards.
Diagnose malfunctions and perform appropriate repairs.
Examine assigned vehicles to determine if additional work is needed or recommended.
Road test vehicles when required.
Keep current with manufacturer technical bulletins and participate in training programs and safety meetings.
2. Parts Coordination & Documentation
Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts; order prior to tear-down when possible.
Save and tag parts for warranty or customer request.
Review work orders with the parts department before closing to ensure all items are billed and cores are returned.
Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
3. Shop Operations & Vehicle Handling
Park completed trucks in assigned spaces and return keys to the service office.
Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean and report any changes in condition.
Maintain a clean and organized shop area.
Maintain company-issued tools, uniforms, and manuals.
4. Communication & Workflow Management
Advise the Service Manager of job progress and expected completion times.
Immediately communicate any issues such as additional work needed, changes to repair timelines, or unnecessary work.
Furnish complete and accurate repair order write-ups.
5. Safety, Compliance & Conduct
Participate in safety meetings and follow all safety protocols.
Operate all tools and equipment safely.
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, hazardous waste disposal).
Maintain a professional appearance and work ethic.
Promote teamwork and demonstrate a “sense of urgency” in all tasks.

Education and/or Experience
Successful completion of a diesel technician program at an accredited institution or sufficient experience working on heavy and/or medium-duty trucks and diesel engines.
A high school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
Prior experience in a heavy and/or medium-duty truck dealership is preferred.
Language Skills
Must have the ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with management, customers, vendors, and other employees.
Mathematical/Computer Skills
Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions.
Must have prior experience working with computers and the ability to function in an electronic environment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License within six months of hiring.
Physical Demands
Will work in an atmosphere exposed to weather elements.
Exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous/non-hazardous materials.
Must move throughout the service shop frequently.
Will climb ladders, enter and exit trucks, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift.
