Job Scope The Quality Control Technician is to ensure that all aspects of the SQF, Quality, and Food Safety programs are followed by all employees, vendors, and visitors. The overall responsibility and objective is to maintain quality products and processes at Diamond Pet Foods.
Work Environment Work is performed primarily indoors in an office setting, but employees may be outdoors and near operating equipment, loud noises, and loose particles. Employees are required to wear a bump cap, hearing protection, safety shoes/boots, and safety glasses at all times in production areas. The role may involve long periods of sitting and standing in varying temperatures and heights.
Duties and Responsibilities
Routinely check paperwork for accuracy and completeness, as well as labels, bags, and seals.
Assure checks are clear, documented, legible, and traceable.
Notify plant personnel and supervisors on any reports that may negatively impact product quality. Dispose or reject affected product and perform follow‑up testing until the issue is resolved.
Conduct various tests on incoming ingredients for sieve, NIR, moisture, and mycotoxin.
Collect routine ingredient and finished product samples as required.
Respond promptly to calls for assistance or quality concerns with clear communication.
Assist in the training and education of new employees.
Understand and comply with all SOPs, GMPs, and HACCP.
Working overtime is mandatory and requires full participation.
Maintain cleanliness of lab, scale, and work areas; keep assigned portion of master sanitation schedule.
Report safety violations and hazards immediately and participate in all safety programs and procedures; must always wear PPE when required.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor will be accepted with a positive and professional attitude.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Successful completion of pre‑employment screening (drug screen, background check, and physical).
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform the required physical tasks (climb, squat, bend, pull, push, kneel, crouch).
Ability to be trained and certified to operate forklifts.
Salary: $23.25 per hour.
