Purpose The Electro Mechanical Technician’s primary responsibility is to maintain equipment proactively; identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical abnormalities on all factory equipment. Perform all preventive maintenance as scheduled to reduce performance losses and increase equipment reliability. Build operator technical skills and capability.

Shift 12‑hour, 2‑2‑3 schedule – must be available to work weekends and/or holidays.

Compensation The approximate hourly pay for this position is $35.00. Final compensation may vary based on background, knowledge, skills and abilities, and geographic location.

Primary Responsibilities

Maintain Factory Equipment

Identify defects, execute maintenance plan and troubleshoot equipment.

Work in various plant areas including material handling and storage equipment.

Understand power distribution systems (up to 480 V).

Control systems – Basic PLC, motor, sensor, drives and device communication networks.

Hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical drive systems.

Troubleshoot and problem‑solve to maintain, optimize and improve production equipment, focusing on safety, quality and cost.

Review maintenance plans and optimize to drive reliability.

Review required spare parts to maximize technical warehouse service factor.

Maintain engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical).

Build Capability

Coach operators on adjustments and changeovers for new/improved processes.

Develop technical procedures.

Train other technical resources as needed.

Use continuous improvement systems such as TPM/Lean.

CMMS System (AMM)

Use AMM to document all maintenance activities.

Create and manage work orders.

Perform time entry and provide technical feedback.

Analyze data to improve maintenance plans and task lists.

Provide line improvement support based on data analysis.

Maintain factory standards

Follow SPC, QMS, permit‑to‑work and other Nestlé and legal requirements.

Requirements and Minimum Education Level

High school diploma or GED.

Two‑year technical degree in maintenance or equivalent work experience.

Required Skills and Abilities

Mechanical skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, principles of operation).

Facilities maintenance experience with chillers, air‑turnover units, cooling towers, HVAC, dock doors.

Welding, fabrication and machining skills.

Electrical skills (NEC, AC & DC circuits, 480 V power distribution, industrial wiring).

Basic PLC/hardwire logic circuit knowledge.

Use of test equipment (ampere meter, megger, etc.).

Motor, drive and sensor knowledge.

Read and interpret machine, electrical and facility drawings.

Familiar with CMMS and production workflow/control systems.

Self‑managed, able to prioritize work unsupervised.

Continuous improvement mindset.

Effective communication with operators, technicians and resources.

Data analysis skills for decision‑making.

Team environment skills with honesty, positive attitude and accountability.

Availability for off‑shifts, weekends and extended shifts (10 hrs., 12 hrs.).

Internal and external certifications (Sanitary welding, vibration, thermography, etc.) may be required.

Understanding of automated equipment and components.

Proficiency with industrial electrical control systems, instrumentation and fluid power.

Proper use of mechanical and electrical tools and diagnostic instruments.

Knowledge of electrical control and power components and circuits.

Operate, troubleshoot, and diagnose industrial circuits used in control and distribution.

Maintain Nestlé‑required certifications (e.g., Arc Flash, LOTO, PTW).

Follow work standards and adhere to all safety permitting and LOTO requirements while executing tasks.

Demonstrate safe practices with low‑ and medium‑voltage electrical systems and components.

Quality

Follow GMP, quality and food‑safety requirements; notify supervisor of any quality or food‑safety findings or incidents.

Maintain quality control standards; perform through SPC and with QMS Advanced Level standards and FDA requirements.
