Job Overview
Position: Field Technician (Macon, GA) – Full‑time
The Technician performs field support activities such as start‑up, preventive and corrective maintenance within the assigned territory. The selected candidate will possess air compressor repair experience, knowledge and skills for effective utilization of related equipment and proven troubleshooting processes and procedures.
Blake & Pendleton Service Technicians provide maintenance/repair support for a variety of industries including manufacturing, utility, forestry, mining, etc. The Technician will mainly support Sullair compressed air equipment but also other designs. Experience and a desire to improve skills as equipment modifications change are required. Safety training and certifications (OSHA, MHSA, etc.) are mandatory. Technicians have a fixed schedule but may need to deviate, work on call, and follow a rotating schedule. Physical requirements include lifting >50 lbs (often >100 lbs), climbing ladders, carrying 25‑55 lbs buckets, and working after hours in inclement weather.
Requirements Electrical knowledge:
Skilled in troubleshooting 120V control circuits.
Read and comprehend wiring diagrams.
Repair single‑phase and 3‑phase motor control circuits up to 480V.
Use multimeters, ammeters and infrared meters.
Perform tasks while meeting company and customer safety requirements.
Mechanical knowledge:
Read and comprehend P&I drawings.
Troubleshoot and repair air compressor control components.
Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, cleaning, setting controls).
Set up rigging equipment and safely remove/reinstall motors and compressors.
Perform motor alignments.
Safely use hand tools and power tools (drills, grinders, band saws, etc.).
Understand hydraulic and pneumatic principles.
Knowledge of piping (copper, black, galvanized).
Knowledge of threading, sweating, brazing and welding.
Bend and install 1/4” and 5/16” stainless‑steel tubing.
Refrigeration:
EPA certification with Freon experience a plus.
Responsibilities
Perform quarterly, semi‑annual and annual preventive maintenance.
Accurately assess trouble calls and repair machines.
Perform start‑up on newly installed machines.
Check in with Service Coordinator daily.
Submit completed timesheets and service tickets to Service Coordinator daily.
Wear a clean company uniform and display a professional demeanor.
Maintain a clean service truck.
Maintain physical fitness required to operate a company service truck.
