Maintenance Mechanic 2 - Our Lady of the Angels The Maintenance Mechanic 2 performs maintenance service and repairs in many areas, including general electrical repairs and nurse call repairs. This role is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in areas of specialty. The position relies on guidelines and some experience and judgment to complete jobs and works under general supervision.

Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance & Repair

Inspect equipment for proper operation, maintain routine records, determine type and extent of malfunction, and produce equipment log history as needed.

Make building rounds to assure proper operation and make necessary adjustments to assure building temperature and pressures.

Service and repair heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including fans, motors, thermostats, dampers and regulating controls, replace filters and fluids as necessary.

Perform general plumbing maintenance such as repair and make alterations to steam, gas, water, air and sanitary plumbing pipes and fixtures; repair and replace valves, repair leaks and clear drain stoppers.

Handle manual duties such as moving supplies, furniture, equipment, removing trash and scrap material, replacing tools and supplies, and replacing light bulbs.

Schedule moving of supplies, furniture and equipment so as not to interrupt scheduled events.

Ensure productivity by identifying problems and repairing or replacing equipment within 24 hours.

Ensure the P.M. program is in place to eliminate unscheduled downtime.

Evaluate and prioritize unscheduled requests against scheduled requests, using helpers wisely and productively.

Complete unscheduled requests within 45 days of receipt.

Maintain proper placement of tools, trash, and scrap material immediately after completion of projects; complete assignment neatly and on time.

Ensure no patient discomfort by avoiding downtime of essential equipment.

Utilize time efficiently to accomplish work.

Operate equipment and perform job-related duties safely.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Adhere to hospital policy on Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.

Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Attend all required mandatory educational sessions.

Respond appropriately to fire, safety and disaster situations.

Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately for optimal protection.

Assume personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.

When requested, adjust personal schedule to meet department/unit needs.

Report to work on time, and report tardiness as needed.

Conform to regulatory, customer and organizational requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in the field or a related area.

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
