Responsibilities
Load stock into work holding devices and monitor the machining process.
Perform visual and physical inspection of parts produced per Laitram Machine Shop Quality Management System.
Perform accurate transactions (clock on, clock off, entering quantities, closing out operation when done, filling in appropriate paperwork).
Operate equipment when setup operations are complete, up to and including high volume production orders.
Clean equipment used and keep work area clean/organized.
Perform accurate and repeatable set‑ups across a variety of CNC Milling and Lathe machines.
Make necessary adjustments to program speeds/feeds, work holding, and tooling to maintain nominal print dimensions and required surface finishes.
Provide effective training and mentorship to develop the skills of other machinists.
Requirements
Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
3‑5 years minimum experience setting up multiple types of CNC equipment.
Proficient using inspection tooling (i.e., micrometers, calipers, gages) to accurately measure part features.
Blueprint reading skills.
Knowledge of G and M codes.
Review CAM files to troubleshoot issues and provide effective recommendations to the programmer/lead.
Proficient using common Shop Math: metric conversions, SFM, geometry, etc.
Is a self‑managed individual able to work well individually or in a team environment.
Is flexible and responsive to changing demands.
Possesses excellent time management skills.
Possesses strong verbal and written communications skills.
Possesses strong computer skills.
Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Experience with GD&T.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with manual and automated CMM’s.
Experience with FDM 3D Printing.
Team Leadership Experience.
Experience using CAM software. Attained proficiency providing effective programs in one CNC discipline (Horizontal Mill, Vertical Mill, Lathe, Multi‑axis, etc.).
