The college serves approximately 5,000 students annually.
Under the supervision of the instructor, the Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology (HART) Lab Assistant provides technical assistance to students either in a classroom or laboratory setting and assists with teaching students according to established policies and procedures.
This is a part‑time position with a pay rate of $18.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
55% Provides group instruction and one‑on‑one tutoring; communicates and explains familiar and new concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of skills.
35% Assists students in the use of equipment.
5% Keeps the lab clean and organized.
5% Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.
Maintains an effective working relationship with students; serves as a positive role model.
Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Promotes the educational values of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom and/or laboratory setting.
Maintains the confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Complies with all laws and regulations related to higher education.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
AAS or Certificate in HART is required.
One‑year work experience in a related field required.
Previous experience as a teacher or lab assistant is preferred.
