Job Summary
The Construction Crew Leader is responsible for working at many different locations, performing general and varied grounds maintenance and gardening work; mow, edge, trim, plant lawns, soil, plants, trees, planters, and related areas using a wide variety of commercial and industrial hand and power equipment. Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction projects, may operate a variety of hand and power tools, and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Coordinate daily tasks according to scheduled routes
Responsible for monitoring attendance and productivity of a crew
Provide supervision and training to all crew members
Review daily work orders, inspect and verify that the materials loaded to the vehicle are adequate to complete the daily assignment
Assist crew members to load and unload materials as needed
Assist crew members to remove, fill, compact and prepare the terrain
Install silt fencing and erosion control blankets using a variety of hand tools
Perform site clean-up and reload leftover materials after the job assignment is complete
Duties / Responsibilities
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects; prepare surfaces for paving
Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction area
Fine grade fill to grades given by foreman
Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix; excavate and fill trenches and ditches
Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
May use landscaping tools or operate heavy equipment as needed
Adhere to Company’s safety policy and ensure public and co-workers are safe while performing job duties
Lead all efforts of crew work for the day’s events (driving to site, management of materials, quality of work, sign off on inspection reports, communication in field, care of materials and tools, managing overtime, illustrating safety measures, etc.)
Interact with clients on site to assure work is done
Reinforce company culture with crew (attire, communication, work ethic, safety, attitude)
Assure that job materials are well kept, maintained, and utilized without waste
Lead the work effort in the field and become adept at installation and maintenance of storm water protective measures
Operate heavy equipment (trencher, skid steer, bobcat, backhoe, sweeper) and truck/trailer safely; abide by all applicable laws/regulations
Demonstrate organization and electronic usage capability (e.g., using phone, computers, etc.)
Complete all required paperwork and submissions accurately and timely
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required Skills / Abilities
Previous construction or landscaping experience preferred
Previous leadership experience
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Comfortable and capable using technology
Must be physically able to work outdoors in all types of weather
Strong attention to detail
Valid driver’s license and three years verifiable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Pass a DOT Physical and Drug Screen
Ability to understand/follow directions and take instructions in English
Work under inclement weather conditions such as rain, heat, and cold
Prior experience as a Foreman or Crew Lead
Bi‑lingual (English / Spanish) a plus
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent desired
Previous outside construction, landscape, or similar field experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills a must
Prior experience operating small machinery such as Bobcat and other excavating equipment
Previous experience driving ½ or ¾ ton trucks, with a 20+ foot trailer attached, fully loaded
