Engineering Technician
Thomas & Hutton, a well‑established civil engineering firm, is hiring an experienced Civil Engineering Technician for its Statesboro, GA office. The role involves land development, roadway, water, and sewer projects and requires 3+ years of CADD experience, specifically with Autodesk Civil 3D.
Typical Duties
Conducts tasks of varying complexity with moderate supervision from a Project Engineer or Manager.
Prepares routine design calculations, data, plans, exhibits, and reports.
Applies judgment on design issues and concepts.
Coordinates work of other technicians as part of a project team.
Prepares project specifications, quantity estimates, and cost estimates.
Uses CADD tools to prepare construction plans and follows company graphic standards.
Monitors project schedule and budget compliance.
Handles minimal client contact and coordination.
Prepares permit applications, bid packages, and attends project meetings.
Communicates project status to the Project Manager regularly.
Provides input on CADD standards, project schedule, and other administrative tasks.
Minimum Requirements Education:
High school or technical training with courses in computer‑aided drafting, or equivalent experience.
Advanced knowledge of CADD and related design tools.
Advanced knowledge of company graphic standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to visualize objects, distances, sizes, and abstract forms.
Ability to sit and use computer equipment, including mouse, for extended periods.
Frequent standing and walking.
Ability to interact verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
