Responsibilities We are seeking a skilled Fire Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing fire protection systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Your work will help safeguard lives and property by ensuring all fire safety equipment operates effectively.
What You Will Do
Respond to service calls, assess reported issues, and communicate with customers to confirm problems.
Diagnose, repair, and install electronic fire alarm systems and related building systems, following established troubleshooting procedures and technical documentation.
Service and troubleshoot fire and life safety systems from various manufacturers, including SimplexGrinnell.
Interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and operational manuals to ensure accurate work.
Maintain clear communication with customers and district staff, ensuring satisfaction and accurate documentation via smartphones and laptops.
Participate in on-call rotations and assist with training or mentoring team members.
Provide proactive solutions to improve building efficiency and resolve service-related issues.
How You Will Do It
Troubleshoot and repair installed systems, including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, and low voltage circuit troubleshooting.
Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication and outstanding customer service skills.
Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is a plus.
Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
Work on call and after-hours as required by customer needs.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communications systems.
Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
Good working knowledge of computers.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Capacity for performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.; ability to work in unusual or difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet; working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, and willingness to travel overnight if required.
High level of customer service and ability to adhere to and implement safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
Retention of any licences required by National, State, and Local codes.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical training.
NICET II certification.
